As if renting a Royal Enfield Himalayan
for the last stretch to the base
where some gear junkie is touting
approach shoes . . . then pages from
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
wash ashore and you're with Kierkegaard
on walking, directing you to that
self-proclaimed citizen of the world
Diogenes championing simple living,
resilience, and closeness to nature . . .
And again walking as philosophy,
as physical training, as refutation . . .
with you going on about how you felt
a shift in your chaotic whirlwind life
of what next, when a voice told you
to slow down, and you listened, you listened . . .
